Dyspraxia/SPLDs/hidden disabilities
I have spoken at a number of conferences on dyspraxia and Specific Learning Differences, alongside leading practioners and professionals, including Jo Todd of Key4Learning and Dr David Grant. My audiences have included staff from the TUC, Sainsbury's, local government and the Civil Service, St Mungos and PATOSS. Quite simply, my experience of dyspraxia comes from living it. I speak candidly from first-hand personal experience, often as a complement to academic and/or professional speakers.
I can give a broad introduction to dyspraxia across the following areas, or cover any one in detail:
- Dyspraxia and Creativity The positive side of dyspraxia, and how to use it to your advantage
- Dyspraxia/Hidden Disabilities in Education How to identify and support children with dyspraxia in school, at university and after graduation. What it's like to go all the way through school undiagnosed
- Dyspraxia/Hidden Disabilities at Work Information on dyspraxia in the workplace for public and private sector employers, HR professionals and employees; Dealing with capability procedures and dismissal as a disabled employee
- Dyspraxia in Relationships How dyspraxia affects relationships, and advice on living with a dyspraxic relative or partner
- SpLDs and Mental Health Information on dyspraxia and SpLDs for mental health professionals and service users
Media
- Public/Performer Relationships from a fan perspective. From my own positive and negative experiences of a fan/performer relationship at a young age, I offer advice to professional actors, musicians, presenters, writers and other public figures on handling public interest, with a focus on young people's interest
- Talking to Journalists Advice on speaking to the press for individuals who aren't major celebrities and don't have a huge PR budget but need to promote or explain their work in a newspaper or magazine
- Media Careers I've been a panelist on two recent live careers webchats hosted by the Guardian, Graduate Employability and How to Become a Freelance Writer
For talks outside Buckinghamshire and East Berkshire, I ask that travel costs are covered, plus accommodation costs if necessary
